Today quota protest all news

Today's quota protests in Bangladesh have escalated significantly. The protests, primarily led by students demanding reforms to the quota system in government jobs, have turned increasingly violent and disruptive.

In Dhaka, major intersections such as Gulistan, Shahbagh, Banglamotor, Karwan Bazar, and Science Lab have been blocked by protesters, leading to severe traffic jams and affecting daily commuters, especially patients and the elderly who have found it difficult to reach hospitals. The blockade has also disrupted train services in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Chattogram, causing significant delays and inconvenience for passengers.

Clashes between protesters and the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling party, have resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. At least six people were reported killed in clashes across various districts, including Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rangpur【6†source】. The violence has also led to vandalism, with reports of students storming dormitories and finding weapons in the rooms of BCL members at Rajshahi University.

The government's response includes the imposition of curfews and deployment of military forces in an attempt to control the situation. Despite these measures, the protests show no signs of abating as the students remain determined to push for their demands.
